A cesspool is a holding pit that leaches untreated waste into the soil, that may sometimes require pumping to prevent backups and contamination as it lacks treatment and filtration. Cesspools may benefit from the addition of enzymes to  assist in the breakdown of some organic waste and revitalize the system.
